The Nokia Lumia 635 is an affordable, powerful and attractive looking smartphone running Windows 8.1. The Nokia 635 makes improvements on the Nokia 630 and offers an alternative to Android smartphones, according to Tech Radar.
Nokia has found ways to keep Windows Phones down in price, even though Microsoft prefers that Windows Phones be premium smartphones.
The Nokia Lumia 635 is just $5 more than the Nokia 630, but it adds 4G LTE connectivity and a glossy finish to the back of the device.
The Nokia Lumia 635 will still offer a 4.5-inch 854 x 480 display, a Snapdragon 400 processor, 512 MB of RAM, 8 GB of storage and the same 5 megapixel camera offered in the Nokia 630.
Screen sizes of most smartphones are getting bigger and most are at least five inches or larger. The Nokia Lumia 635 is small by most standards and it does have a rather low resolution. However, the screen displays colors quite well in an outdoor setting and has good viewing angles.
With the smaller size, the Nokia Lumia 635 is optimized for single-handed use.
To combat the small 8 GB of storage, Nokia included a microSD slot so that users can add more storage with microSD cards.
The Nokia Lumia 635 has interchangeable back panels. The back panels can be swapped out for new colors such as yellow, green, orange or black.
The plastic phone is sturdy and durable and will be able to withstand a few drops. The screen is protected with Gorilla Glass 3.
With the Nokia Lumia 635 having 4G capability, the battery life takes a hit. The battery is the same 1,830 mAh found in the Nokia Lumia 630, according to CNet.
The 5 megapixel camera is nothing to get excited about and it lacks a flash, but it will still take average photos.
Without a contract the Nokia Lumia 635 can be purchased from Amazon for just $89.99.
