Microsoft has sent out invites for their October 6 event in New York City, where next generation Surface Pro 4 tablet, Lumia Windows 10 for mobile flagships, and the new Fitness Band are expected. The company broke the ice by saying that they have an exciting news for the upcoming Windows 10 devices, indicating the launch of the Windows-based tablet, the Surface Pro 4, and the fitness band, the Band 2.0, along with some new Lumia smartphones.
As a step to unify the operating system on various devices, Microsoft launched their latest OS, the Windows 10 earlier this year in July. The operating system is crafted to run alike on laptops, desktops, and smartphones. For the less powerful devices, Microsoft is working on the Windows 10 OS for IoT. It is expected to be seen in the yet-to-be revealed Band 2.0.
Surface Pro 4 is expected to be much more refined than its predecessor. The rumors about the Surface Pro 4 suggests a bigger 14-inch display in the tablet, a little larger than the 12.9-inch display of the recently launched iPad Pro. Powered by Intel's Core M Broadwell processor, it'll feature 16GB of RAM, which is double the capacity of its predecessor, the Surface Pro 3, and will support up to 1TB of flash storage.
The next expected device to unveil is the fitness band, the Band 2.0, which is the successor to the Band 1.0. Rumors suggest that Microsoft has improved its design to fit comfortably on the wearer's wrist, unlike the boxy design of the Band 1.0. The earlier band had no curves whatsoever, but we might expect to see a curved OLED display on the Band 2.0. The software has gotten many updates and is much more stable now, but the company now has to look into the hardware and design of the wearable.
Along with the new tablet and the wearable, there might be some additions to the Lumia smartphones catalog as well. No official announcement for the product launches or pricing has been made by the company yet. The rest we'll get to know later in October.
