Microsoft Lumia 950 XL and Lumia 950 are Windows 10 phones recently made available. The overall performance of the devices has been good, with almost no complaints from users till date. But this seems to be changing. Lumia users are complaining about Wi-Fi connectivity issues.
The complaint was posted by JdeFalconr on Windows Central forum asking others if they are facing the same issue. The poster wrote, "Trying to see if anyone else sees these problems. I have both 2.4 and 5Ghz networks in my home. For whatever reason my 950 XL will connect but gets no internet access. Other devices on the same network get internet access just fine. This persists through a reboot. WPA2 security on the networks. I confirmed im getting an IP, DNS settings and everything else via DHCP as I should."
Another poster called gerrymad later joined in the discussion and confirmed that his device is facing a similar problem. He wrote, "I have 2.4 and 5GHz. The phone kept joining on the 2.4n network instead of the 5GHz ac even though my network is set to steer devices to 5. I turned off the 2.4 and then the phone connected just fine on 5 ac. When I turned the 2.4 back on then the phone went back to it."
The Redmond company has been facing issues with Wi-Fi connectivity since the Surface RT days. As more Surface tablets were launched, instead of this problem getting solved, it worsened. And now the legacy has been taken forward to Microsoft Lumia 950 XL and Lumia 950. Luckily, Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book have been spared.
We are not sure how many Microsoft Lumia 950 XL and Lumia 950 devices are suffering from this Wi-Fi connectivity issue. But the complaints on Microsoft Community Forum and Windows Central Forum are enough to bring this problem into spotlight. Let's see how Microsoft deals with it.
