At CES 2016, Fitbit introduced the Blaze — the company's new smartwatch which offers a tonne of fitness tracking features. The company's Blaze smartwatch is able to provide smart notifications on your wrist, right from your smartphone. The device supports Windows Phone, iOS, and Android, too. Now, as it turns out, the device won't be fully compatible with Windows Phone devices. According to Fitbit, users won't be able to get call and text notifications from their Windows Phone devices on their Blaze device as Windows Phone does not provide a GATT server just yet. Here is the company's full statement:
"You will be able to sync Fitbit Blaze with your Windows Phone bluetooth, but unfortunately call/text notification are still in the process of verification because the Microsoft Windows platform does not provide a GATT server. Fitbit leverages this technology to provide notifications on our hardware. Microsoft and Fitbit are working together to bring a solution as soon as possible"
It's worth noting that the company provided a very similar statement when asked about call/text notification support for Windows Phone devices on Fitbit devices back in October 2015. Unfortunately though, the company is yet to deliver a solution for its Windows customers.
What's quite annoying is that Fitbit isn't letting its customers know that their device may not support some features of the Blaze. On its website, the company does not have anything regarding this issue and suggests that the device supports the call/text notifications on Windows Phone devices, too — which, of course, it doesn't.
Hopefully, Microsoft and Fitbit will be able to bring a solution in the near future. However, for now, if you are planning to get a Blaze, just be aware that the device won't be fully compatible with your Windows Phone.
