Microsoft Releases Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 14267 to Fast Ring

Microsoft Releases Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 14267 to Fast Ring

One day after build 14267 shipped to Windows Insiders using Windows 10 for PCs, Microsoft has delivered the same build for Windows 10 Mobile. As with the previous release, this for Insiders on the Fast ring.

"This is our first new preview build for Windows 10 Mobile from our Development Branch this year," Microsoft's Gabe Aul notes. "Initially, we'll make new builds from our Development Branch available only to devices that shipped with Windows 10 Mobile. Currently this includes the Lumia 950, 950 XL, 550, and Xiaomi Mi4. We plan to expand from there as we release Windows 10 Mobile to other devices."

See Another Week, Another Windows 10 Build for Insiders … But Bad News for Mobile for more information about that last bit. For now, here's a quick peek at what's new for Mobile build 14267:

Easier music search in Cortana. Just like Bing Search back in the day, there's now a Music Search icon in the top right of the Cortana screen. Just tap that icon to have Cortana listen and search for the song that's playing.

Better Word Flow support in the Edge address bar. Microsoft has re-enabled the ability to use shape writing in the Microsoft Edge address bar.

Easier Edge InPrivate tabs. Microsoft has moved the InPrivate Tab button to make it easier to open a secure tab: Now it's right next to the New Tab button.

Improved download prompts in Edge. The Edge web browser will now show a prompt when you start a download, allowing you to cancel an unwanted download.

Lots o' fixes. Microsoft fixed a number of bugs in this build, including an issue where shape writing would ignore every other word, an issue where you could not hide the navigation bar in Windows Phone 8.1 apps, and an issue where videos recorded onto SD memory cards would result in a large number of dropped frames. App launching reliability has been improved, and certain crashes that triggered phone reboots were also fixed. Finally, Microsoft improved live tile animations and the logic for refreshing live tiles.

One major new bug. Microsoft reports only a single major known issue, which I think is a first: The notification and delivery of Visual Voicemail is broken. (You can manually check your voicemail by calling your voicemail to listen to any new messages.)
