Last month, Microsoft made Windows 10 a recommended update rather than an optional installation.
And, now, early adopters are treated to Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 10586.122.
The update also adds Insider support for a bunch of new phones, including the MCJ Madosma Q501, BLU Win HD W510U, BLU Win HD LTE X150Q, and ALCATEL ONETOUCH Fierce XL. The new report also mentions that the second major feature update for Windows 10 has been delayed.
Of course, there will be new features and UI adjustments throughout the Redstone cycle too, most of which I hear will be cosmetic changes to already available features in Windows 10 TH2. However, Microsoft claims that 1.5 billion machines run a flavor of the new Windows.
The ultimate goal here is to use Continuum as a way of bringing devices closer together, and this should happen with Redstone.
The fixes in this update include improving the speed at which video thumbnails appear in portrait mode, improvements to alarm reliability, improved video recording audio, and improved overall OS reliability.
Why this matters: Although the market share of Windows phones continues to shrink, it's nice to see Microsoft still going the extra mile for the customers who are willing to help push Windows 10 Mobile development forward.
Obviously, you won't be able to record 1080p video if your camera has a maximum resolution of 720p and you can't save to the SD card if your phone doesn't have a slot.
Fixed an issue where adding your MSA during OOBE would fail and prevent the account from being re-added after the failure.
Improved data connection profiles for dual SIM devices. The information you need is listed under Manufacturer Name and Mobile Operator. It is available only in black (or what Microsoft calls "Onyx"), while the other Surface Pro 4 Type Covers (without a fingerprint reader) are available in various color choices. Reports indicate that the first set of Lumia smartphones which will receive the update are: The Lumia 430, Lumia 435, Lumia 532, Lumia 535, Lumia 540, 1 GB RAM model of Lumia 634, Lumia 640, Lumia 640 XL, Lumia 735, Lumia 830 and Lumia 930.
