Windows 10 mobile users will be able to download this beta of the Instagram app straight from the Windows Store for free. The plan was to follow a similar cadence with Windows 10 "Redstone", according to my sources, with Redstone 1 due in June and Redstone 2 in the November-ish timeframe.
The update will be released OTA but we still do not know the exact date of when the update will be released.
Vodafone Italy has revealed the Windows 10 Mobile OTA update schedule for Microsoft Lumia gadgets, as per Windows Central. After an unspecified amount of time - most likely once any launch bugs have been squashed - the company will automatically push Windows 10 Mobile to compatible phones. Of course, there will be the feature improvements and bug fixes that updates generally stand for and will largely be limited to fine-tuning the RS1 efforts as Threshold 2 (Version 1511) did over the initial release (Build 10240). Once you upgrade to the latest OS, you will for sure enjoy lots of other goodies that tag along the new software. However, sometime later on, the company will start actively pushing the new firmware to suitable devices, Win Beta reported. The app is certainly far from the polished experience offered on Android and iOS, but we imagine team Instagram is hard at work polishing the code for Microsoft's faithful users. The popular image and video sharing platform has finally released its app on Microsoft's mobile platform.
The new build also brings single background for both the Lock screen and the logon screen, just like Windows 10 mobile. This is one of the four Windows Bridge programs that let coders migrate apps to Windows from other platforms. So all those tweeking their way into Instagram from their Windows phones can now access the picture sharing site through its official app on their devices.
If the media reports are true, that would mean that Microsoft's traditional fall and summer Windows 10 update release cycle, as seen last year, may not be the pattern for this year.
