Over the past 40 years, Microsoft has been among some of the biggest forces in the markets of software and OS technology. The company has been coming out with some of the most popular updates and upgrades in the recent times, and has been changing several trends in the markets. Microsoft has brought forward a large number of innovations in the industry, and the company has changed the very perception of their users when it comes to the hardware business. They have finally released the Windows 10 Mobile OS update for the users of the older, Nokia Lumia Windows Phone devices.
The update was supposed to reach these users in the December of 2015, but came out in the March of 2016. In the past this update was limited to the users of the Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL, Lumia 550 and Lumia 650. However, millions of new devices have now received the Windows 10 Mobile OS update.
The Windows 10 Mobile OS update came out for the users of many older Nokia Lumia phones such as Lumia 1520, 930, 640, 640XL, 730, 735, 830, 532, 535, 540, 635 1GB, 636 1GB, 638 1GB, 430, 435, BLU Win HD w510u, BLU Win HD LTE x150q, and the MCJ Madosma Q501 devices.
There has been quite a controversy over this selective release as the users of other popular devices such as the Lumia 520, Lumia 1020 and Lumia 1320 are upset that their devices have not received this update. Microsoft has explained why this selective release was made in their blog, saying:
"This list includes a limited set of Windows Phone 8.1 devices and does not include some devices that are currently running Windows 10 Mobile in the Windows 10 Mobile Insider program. As Windows 10 delivers significant new innovations, many older devices are not able to successfully upgrade without an impact on the customer experience. Our goal is to only offer the Windows 10 upgrade to devices that we are confident can continue to deliver a good customer experience," the company said.
