Windows 10 Mobile is only available for some 50 percent of the Windows Phone device lineup, so not all users on this platform can actually upgrade to the latest operating system despite the fact that Microsoft originally promised to support absolutely all models.

Nevertheless, many of those who were eligible for the upgrade have already performed it and data collected by AdDuplex now provides us with a closer look at the top devices running both Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile.

Surprisingly, both operating systems are dominated by the same model, the Lumia 535, which struggled to take over the leading spot on Windows Phone from the super-popular Lumia 520.

All hail Lumia 535

On Windows Phone, Lumia 535 is number one with 12.5 percent share, followed by Lumia 520 with 11.3 percent and Lumia 640 with 8.9 percent. As far as Windows 10 Mobile devices are concerned, Lumia 535 is once again the leader with 12.5 percent, while this time the runner-up is Lumia 640 with 12 percent and followed by Lumia 550 with 11.8 percent. Fortunately, new Lumia models are also gaining ground, so the 950 is now at 6.8 percent, while the 950 XL reached a share of 3.8 percent.

In case you're wondering what's so special about the Lumia 535 that so many people are using it, it must be the price. Available for a little over $100 (or 100 Euros depending on country), the Lumia 535 comes with a 5-inch screen with a resolution of 540x960 pixels, is powered by a Snapdragon 200 processor, features 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage, and comes with 5-megapixel cameras on front and back.

AdDuplex has also released statistics regarding Windows 10 phones enthusiasts, explaining that Lumia 640 is the preferred choice for this category of users with 12.4 percent, followed by the 640 XL with 12.3 percent.

New Lumia flagships are doing a lot better here and the 950 XL is third with 11.7 percent, while its smaller brother the 950 is fourth with 10.3 percent. Low-end models such as the Lumia 535 are nowhere to be seen in these stats.
