Windows Phone share falls to just 0.2% in Spain

Sales of Windows Phone handsets fell to their lowest ever share of the Spanish market in the three months to May 2016, accounting for just 0.2 percent of smartphones sold, according to the latest data from Kantar WorldPanel ComTech. The figure is 2.2 percentage points down on the year-earlier share of 2.4 percent and remains well below the market share reached by Windows Phone-powered smartphones in neighbouring European countries such as France (11.1 percent) and Italy (13.9 percent).

The report reveals that Android consolidated its dominant position in the Spanish marketplace in the three months to May, accounting for 92.8 percent of handsets sold, some 2.9 percent up on the year-earlier result. iOS sales were down 0.6 percent year on year to 6.9 percent of the market. In terms of vendors, Samsung continued to lead the market, accounting for 26.8 percent of all handsets sold in Spain, down 5.8 percent year on year, followed by Huawei with 20.8 percent (up 7.5 percent) and Spain� �s BQ with 16.2 percent.
