Lumia 520 is a gift that keeps giving. One of the more popular headsets powered by Windows Phones ever, this smartphone has been making noises for entirely different reasons.
While Microsoft actually pulled the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade for this handset, and its cousins, the Lumia 525 and 526, this fan favorite family of devices has been in the news for running the Android operating system.
And not just any Android version, but usually the newer ones, like Android 6.0 as we found out earlier this year.
Now this fascination continues, as eager developers experiment with loading even new versions of Android onto this phone that launched all the way back in 2013. One of them even succeeded in deploying Android 7.0 Nougat, showing that it is entirely possible.
Behold:
Sure, the first question that comes to mind is how did he manage to do this?
Unfortunately, while details are not available at this point, the uploader does mention that the process is quite hard. But once done, this updated mobile OS runs buttery smooth on the handset, and it can also load up multiple apps on it.
The only place where the Lumia 520 falters is multitasking, and it is no also not clear whether all features like the camera and phone calling work correctly.
But it does go to show that even an old Windows phone that Microsoft abandoned, deeming it not eligible for Windows 10 Mobile can run the latest version of Android in a pretty decent way.
Then again, the Lumia 520 is a phone that stopped a bullet once, so you expect only the best from it.
Your thoughts here, folks?
