Another Windows Phone Is Close to Failing Before Even Launching

WhartonBrooks is one of the companies that are trying to keep Windows phones alive, but unfortunately, all their efforts are very likely to fail after an IndieGogo fundraising campaign has barely reached 2 percent of its goal.

The firm took to IndieGogo to raise funds for a new Windows 10 Mobile device called Cerulean Moment, asking Microsoft fans to donate a total of $1.1 million to bring the device in mass production. With only 7 days left until it comes to an end, the campaign reached only 2 percent, with just $24,398 donated by 102 backers.

WhartonBrooks hasn't provided a statement on the status of the campaign recently, but the donated money will be refunded in approximately 7 days.

Unfortunately, the company had big plans with Windows phones, even though at this point not even Microsoft seems to be so interested in keeping the platform alive.

"We are a company found by Windows Phone fans to bring smartphones to market for fans of Windows 10 Mobile," the firm says. "We are proud to announce the Cerulean Moment. Our new modern personal computer that is in a category all its own. It is the one device that is all devices - your smartphone, desktop PC, media streamer, and so much more. All powered by Windows 10 mobile."

Mid-range phone

The device itself wasn't really a productivity monster, but more of a mid-ranger, with the spec sheet including a 5-inch display with 1280x720 pixels resolution, Gorilla Glass 3 protection, a 1.5 GHz Snapdragon 617 CPU, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage.

The phone was supposed to feature a 13-megapixel camera with auto-focus on the back and a 5-megapixel unit on the front with dual-LED flash.

"Creating a new smartphone company is only for the committed entrepreneur. Getting this far has been an amazing journey. Though the smartphone market is a competitive nightmare, the Windows phone market is wide-open and rich with MILLIONS for of the most dedicated fans and enthusiasts. We are here for you and we are here to stay. We made it this far and we will bring it home together!" the company said in a statement that only the hardcore Windows Phone fans believed at that point.
