mophie on the case with iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X wireless charging base

Zig zagging into the iPhone X, 8 Plus and 8 attention race is Mophie, the #1 US mobile battery case brand per NPD, with its wireless iPhone charging pad, as introduced on the keynote stage by Apple's Phil Schiller.

It's true. Wireless charging has been around for years on select Samsungs, LGs, the now-dead Microsoft Nokia Lumia range and others, but one thing for certain: now that Apple has finally introduced wireless charging, it's about to go from middling acceptance to full-on massive popularity.

It's a fact of life that disturbs Android fans, but let's face it: it's true. Wireless charging has barely made a dent in the true consciousness of the everyday person, unlike Steve Jobs who made a dent in the Universe, and whose beloved multitouch pocket smartphone computer not only dented it further still, but will now get a wireless denting thanks to finally adopting the technology.

After all, as we all know, or should if we don't, the future was invented, and likely invented long ago, it just hasn't been widely distributed yet - and that's what Apple does best, and does better still with the help of its partners, which naturally includes companies like Mophie, which calls itself "mophie" in lower case.

So, after having had its Wireless Charging Base introduced on stage at an Apple Keynote by Apple's senior vice-president of worldwide sales, Phil Schiller, iPhone charging will soon be everywhere, which does Android a favour too, given Apple's tide lifts all boats, whether iOS or Android-powered in the wireless charging realm.

Naturally, mophie bills its compact wireless charging base as featuring "the latest in wireless technology to provide wireless charging directly to iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X", and is "designed to begin charging simply by placing" one of the new iPhones on the pad.

As you'd expect, your device will continue to be fully functional while charging, so users can continue to use the display and connect to Bluetooth accessories, among other things.

Chris Ahern, president at mophie, said the company "has demonstrated its commitment to making charging as effortless as possible through our ecosystem of wireless charging solutions. The mophie wireless charging base provides the optimal experience for iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X customers from day one".

The wireless charging base features a dual-injected rubberised, non-slip finish to ensure proper placement of the trio of new iPhones, and also allows "high-speed wireless charging up to 7.5W for compatible devices".

mophie said its wireless charging base "charges your iPhone 50% faster than standard wireless chargers," and has an ultra-fast response time which activates charging immediately, and as mentioned above, maintains "the full functionality of your phone and access to your favourite features".

In addition, it has a low standby current, ensuring minimal power draw when idle, and even has foreign object detection that communicates with the device, ensuring that power is only sent to compatible wireless devices.

The pad itself is small, compact, and has a non-slip grip. We're told that this "minimal low-profile design fits perfectly whether you choose to charge at home or the office", while its "360-degree, rubberised, non-slip TPU coating protects and keeps your iPhone properly aligned while charging. In addition, the die cast metal inner structure is electroplated, creating a stable, sturdy platform that stays where you want it – just drop and charge".

The company will also has a wireless compatible mophie battery case, which naturally can also be charged on its new wireless charging base, something that allows mophie to cover all case bases.

Set to retail from Apple's online site, Apple stores, mophie.com and other premium retailers for $59.95 on 20 September, the wireless revolution has arrived at long last in a form that will see wireless finally expand in the way its earlier proponents have always wanted.
