After recently rolling out the Lumia 435, Lumia 532, Lumia 640, Lumia 640 XL and the Lumia 540, Microsoft is now reportedly working on four new smartphones, including two flagship devices and two mid-range smartphones.

Previous reports had hinted at a fall 2015 release date for Microsoft's new flagships, but had failed to provide any specific details. According to fresh reports, Microsoft is developing two flagship smartphones — the Lumia 940 and the Lumia 940XL. The Lumia 940 is expected to sport a 5-inch display while the Lumia 940XL will feature a 5.7-inch display. Both the smartphones are also expected to feature a bigger camera than the 20-megapixel sensor present on the Lumia 930. The report further suggests that both the smartphones will have advanced features such as 3D-Interaction, Iris Scanner and pen support, and are likely to be powered by a new crop of hexa-core and octa-core processors. Microsoft hopes that the new flagships will help its mobile platform compete against high-end Android and iOS devices.

As for the Redmond giant's mid-range smartphones, the Lumia 840 will be launched as a successor to the Lumia 830, with a 5-inch display screen and a more powerful processor than the one powering the Lumia 830. According to the report, the Lumia 840 will look similar to its predecessor and will feature a 13-14 MP PureView technology camera in the rear panel and a 5 MP camera in the front. Microsoft's other mid-range smartphone, Lumia 740 XL, could come with either a 5.5-inch or 5.7-inch display screen and a camera similar to the one present in the Lumia 840, but without the PureView technology.

Microsoft's flagships and mid-range devices are expected to be launched together with Windows 10 for phones. Since Microsoft is likely to push Windows 10 for phones to vendors by the end of Q2, these smartphones could be unveiled in early Q3.
