WhatsApp has confirmed its voice calling feature for the Windows Phone platform. The application's support team has revealed in an email by replying to the Windows Phone user.
However, the mail has not specified the exact time when WhatsApp voice calling for Windows Phones can be expected. The mail went on to say, "We cannot comment on any future release timelines but we appreciate your interest in WhatsApp Calling."
WhatsApp users of Android devices started receiving the voice calling feature without any invites or activation in the late March this year. To get this feature on your Android smartphone, all you need to do is download the latest version of WhatsApp from its website. The feature has appeared on WhatsApp version 2.12.5 in some smartphones, but most people will need the latest 2.12.19 version to get WhatsApp calling. The update has already started being pushed to Google Play as well, so just wait untill it rolls out in your region or download the app f rom the company site.
When the feature is activated on phone, users will see a new three-tab layout featuring Calls, Chats and Contacts. You can go to the Calls tab, tap the phone icon, and pick a contact to make your first WhatsApp call. Call records are automatically saved. During a WhatsApp call, if the user gets a regular call on his smartphone, then the WhatsApp call runs in background for a few seconds and gets disconnected on its own.
