The Microsoft Lumia 640 XL is the big screen entertainer right now, combining a 5.7-inch display with a power 13-Megapixel camera and the latest Windows Phone 8.1 with update 2. Here we take a look at the Data Symbols for Windows Phone on your Lumia smartphone.
If you're new to Windows Phone then you may be curious as to what many of the symbols running along the top of the display are for. They are your smartphone's way of informing you what it is up to.

However, in order to make the most of them you will need to be able to understand which one means – from the page icon that looks like three lines of text on a page to the small arrow appearing intermittently above the WiFi sign – what do they all mean?

The bar at the top of the screen on your Lumia 640 XL tells you the current time, battery and signal strength, and much more. If you're curious as to what they mean – some seem fairly obvious while others can be best described as 'confusing' then you've come to the right place.

– Your phone is roaming and not on your home mobile network
