Safety conscious drivers have embraced hands-free options for using a cell phone or other device in the car. Many localities have strict guidelines for using a cell phone or texting device while driving a car. In most cases, mounting your device to the windshield or dashboard will allow you to use the hands-free options available with most smartphones, GPS units and other devices. Maryland is one of the States that doesn't allow mounting a device on your windshield but does allow one on your dashboard. There is a good explanation of the Maryland regulations online at Ehow. It's important to know the correct placement that meets the requirements of the laws where you live. The Montar Car Mount conforms to both windshield and dashboard placement which takes a lot of the guesswork out of buying the right product for your car.
The Car Mount has a shiny black finish with a bright red rubber grip that firmly holds your phone in the desired landscape or portrait position. Twist and rotate the device, tipped it forward, back, or side to side for the best viewing position. On the base of the mount is a very strong suction cradle which attaches to most smooth, flat surfaces. Make sure that you have placed the car mount correctly before activating the suction holder. Although the mount may be removed, repositioned, and attached again, it sticks to the surface tenaciously making removal a bit of a challenge. That's actually a good thing because it also resists coming loose when your car is bouncing around in extreme or off-road conditions that would shake off a lesser product. If your dashboard has a curved or textured dashboard you may need to use the 3M adhesive film which is in the bottom of the box. Pictures and instructions on the sides of the box will guide you through setting up your car mount and removi ng it if necessary.
Once you have securely mounted the Montar to the appropriate surface in your car, just insert your phone, GPS unit, or other device into the spring loaded red grip. Then loosen the adjustment ring on the back of the holder so that you can swivel and rotate the device up to 360 degrees to the correct viewing position. When you're done, just tighten that ring to hold the phone in that position and you're good to go.
