Acer Liquid Jade Primo - Fierce Competitor to the new Lumia Smartphones

The company announced at CES 2016 a new smartphone based on Windows 10 Mobile platform. As for the display, it features a 5.5-inch AMOLED panel with 2.5D Gorilla Glass and a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080. The Jade Primo also features 3GB RAM and 32GB internal memory, in line with the Lumia handsets. The 21MP f/2.2 auto-focus rear camera has dual LED flash, and supports up to 4K video recording.

True to being a Windows 10 device, Acer's Liquid Jade Primo can be connected to any TV or monitor where you can run Windows apps and won't need a tablet or a laptop to perform the same functions.

Acer's Windows 10 flagship Liquid Jade Primo will gradually be rolled out to other regions after arriving in EMEA where it will be available from €569 ($613).

Now, It is certainly some good news for Windows fans given the scarcity of handsets running Windows 10 Mobile. Perhaps if Acer launched the Liquid Jade Primo earlier or upgraded the specs since the September 2015 announcement, it could have made a bigger splash. And that includes the price, as well-Acer plans to offer the Liquid Jade Primo, plus its display dock, for less than the $549 Microsoft charges for an unlocked Lumia 950. 6 LTE. There was no mention of the battery size, but you'll get a USB Type-C port along with Windows 10 and Continuum support. The front is devoid of any type of navigational buttons since Windows 10 uses software keys.

Before we get there, let's look at the Jade Primo.

Looking for a solid Windows smartphone that doesn't come from Microsoft?

The Liquid Jade Primo's rear 21-megapixel camera also performed fairly well during my opening tests - though I can't definitively comment on its performance until I've viewed photos taken on it blown up on a larger screen.

For those in the Android ecosystem the Liquid Jade Primo won't be the most interesting, or best value smartphone on the market.

Hence, the newly launched Acer Liquid Jade Primo can be hooked up with a monitor, keyboard and mouse to give you that desktop-like experience with Universal Windows Apps, just like Microsoft's newly launched flagship duo.
