Hulu unwraps universal Windows 10 app for smartphones, tablets, PCs

Before today, Microsoft only had a Windows 8 version of the Hulu app available - this new app is meant to be a better alternative for those who have upgraded to the latest OS. Hulu Universal Windows App is now missing Xbox support but it will soon start running on Xbox as well. If you haven't watched the given show in Hulu yet, the app will launch and immediately begin playing the first episode.

Within the Hulu app, you can navigate directly to a show or episode by typing in its name. By default, the app's tile cycles through some shows in your queue, temping you to click through and start binge watching. So if you're ready to watch some Seinfeld, buckle up. Because why type when you can speak?

Hulu is a popular streaming service just like Netflix which lets you watch your favourite TV shows and movies with a monthly subscription fee. If you don't want to be interrupted by any ads, the service will cost you $11.99 a month.

"We're looking at how users interact with content and voice", he says. "It's not about success in the short-term...it's about understanding what in the eyes of the user will be successful", Smith explains.

As a Universal Windows 10 application, Hulu's app will work any supported device, including PC, tablet or phone. There was a Windows 8.1 app for PCs and tablets that worked on Windows 10 computers as well as a Windows Phone 8 app that worked on Windows 10 Mobile. The app is smart enough to pick up where you left off, playing the next episode in the queue if you've been watching the show already.

You can download the Hulu Universal Windows App from Windows Store.
