Microsoft Set to roll out Windows 10 Update on Selected Smartphones

Microsoft rolled out the Windows 10 update last week and to the surprise of some fo the Lumia users, some of the Lumia devices were not on the list. With Microsoft moving towards making universal apps available, mobile users can use the same app on their Windows 10 desktop or tablet for easier integration.

It seems that we will need to wait more than one year until we will see the upcoming Surface Pro 5 device, as according to reports, the Windows 10 "Redstone 2" will be released sometime in the spring of 2017. The company is expected to further release more devices over the coming months leading up to the release of the Surface Phone.

The Microsoft's new Internet Explorer alternative, Edge Browser now got the support for extensions. Each can be manually installed, and thanks to new extensions support, the extensions can be installed in Google Chrome as well.

To prevent such issues, Microsoft will first release new Edge extensions to its Windows Insiders for testing, DeBruyne said. And now, it is here for developers to test it. Microsoft didn't share any word about the period of this analysis by developers, but we know that after the trial period is over with success, then the extension will be available in Windows Store. The biggest change is expected to come out in the branding strategy and the Windows Phone devices shall now be looked as business phones. There will be a Surface Pen accompanying Surface Pro 5.

The roll-out will also be applicable to third party OEMs such as Blu Win HD w510u, Blu Win HD LTE x150q, and MCJ Madosma Q501 who will be getting the Windows 10 Mobile update.

"As Windows 10 delivers significant new innovations, many older devices are not able to successfully upgrade without an impact on the customer experience", Fortin noted in the blog post.
