Microsoft Begins Windows 10 Rollout For Mobile

The Redmond-based tech firm is planning to make the rollout post the regular "monthly service updates" for the Lumia 950 and 950 XL device with Windows 10 mobile operating system.

In addition to the revamped Window 10 Mobile app, Twitter said that it will be adding the dark theme, which is one of the most requested features to the service. Michael Fortin, CVP Windows and Devices Group Core Quality writes in Microsoft Blog.

"This list includes a limited set of Windows Phone 8.1 devices and does not include some devices that are now running Windows 10 Mobile in the Windows 10 Mobile Insider programme". Microsoft announced rolling out Windows 10 Mobile to 18 of its devices running Windows Phone 8.1. First of all, it is unclear what devices will be eligible for the update and what devices won't get it. For example, it is unclear if any Windows RT tablets will be on the list for the update.

When an update to Windows 10 Mobile is available, head over to the Start menu, swipe over the All apps list then select Setting Phone update and install the update.

There's one catch: Microsoft isn't making Windows 10 Mobile available to all customers immediately. If the app says that the Windows 10 upgrade is available, tick the Enable Windows 10 upgrade checkbox and tap on "Next".

Microsoft recommends downloading the Windows 10 Upgrade Advisor app from the Windows Store.

If the update is available for your device, you'll see the following screenshot. Indian Express reported, the target devices to which the apparent service update will be offered from Microsoft every month are Lumia 535, 635, 735, 830, 930 and Lumia 1520.

There's also compatibility with Windows Hello, which allows users to unlock their device's just by looking at it. Users will also get more control over their desktop through the ability to resize live tiles.

Perhaps most surprising, given that Microsoft has put a priority on expanding in the enterprise mobility market, certain enterprise features, such as data protection under lock and mobile device management capability to prevent saving and sharing Office documents, are not supported.
