Samsung has also made significant hardware and software updates to optimize gaming performance on Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge.

The cameras on the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, which has trimmed pixel density from 16MP to 12MP, features the first Dual Pixel camera on a smartphone, which delivers brighter and sharper images, even in low-light. T-Mobile announced today that Galaxy S7 customers get another Galaxy S7 or S7 edge free if they add a new line.

The Galaxy S7 on sale, with model number SM-G930F, is compatible with most GSM and LTE networks, including T-Mobile and AT&T.

Samsung has also followed LG, Lumia and Motorola in crafting an Always-On display, which allows users to check the phone for the time, missed calls and e-mail notifications, without waking up the device. The devices replace the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge handsets, which were launched previous year by the South Korean consumer electronics giant. While most people were resistant to shift to the Galaxy S6 due to the lack of a removable battery, water resistance as well as microSD card, the company has addressed a larger part of these issues with the new Samsung Galaxy S7.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 features a 5.1-inch display while the curved S7 Edge sports a bigger 5.5.-inch screen. It is IP68 certified water and dust resistance. The phones also sport a much improved low-light camera with extremely fast auto focusing.

The world's top smartphone maker said the local price of the 32 gigabyte (GB) Galaxy S7 will be 836,000 won (US$690), compared with the initial price of 858,000 won for the 32GB Galaxy S6.

While the antenna, speaker, and wireless charging coil are modular and connected to the motherboard via tiny spring connectors, would-be repairers have to first melt through the thick adhesive that secures the device's rear panel.

The Galaxy S7 has been launched with two processors: One is a 64-bit octa-core processor (2.3GHz Quad + 1.6GHz Quad) and the second a 64-bit quad-core processor (2.15GHz Dual + 1.6GHz Dual). It has Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 chipset and is powered by a non-removable 3600mAH battery.
