Remains of the Day: Universal Skype App Coming Soon to Windows Insiders

The new version was written from scratch and features a redesigned user interface, though the functionality is mostly the same as in previous versions (and a few features are still missing).

Thanks to our new PC and Mobile Windows 10 Insider Preview trackers we can easily keep on eye on trends like this which is kind of fun for a geek like me.

The owners of a Lumia smartphone running on Windows 8.1 were told by Microsoft that the release of the Windows 10 Mobile will be delayed, once again, and this time not by days, but by month.

We fixed an issue where new languages and keyboards were not downloading. We are also working with many other partners to enable additional connectors that will be made available soon.

Unfortunately, with a list of fixes comes a list of known issues found in the latest Windows 10 Insider build. There are a lot for PC users, including issues with Narrator and other screen reader apps that prevent them from reading the menu options in the Feedback Hub.

As for the broader future of Skype, if you want to stick with the existing Skype app on Windows 10 you most certainly can for the foreseeable, but eventually everything will be integrated into the UWP app. Global menus are now in a single Settings menu, and Skype says contextual menus will appear in upcoming releases.

If you do spot anything new or interesting after you download and install the new Skype version, please let us know in the comments. The rest of phones have weak specifications, old Qualcomm S4 chipsets or 512MB of RAM and they're not capable of running this new software. Additionally, Hyper-V users with a Virtual Switch configured as a network adapter will see a red-colored "X" in the taskbar's notification area. When this happens, there is an issue in this build where Bluetooth will then repeatedly scan for devices.

PCs that use Windows Hello or a PIN to sign-in to the device will launch the Microsoft Passport service.

Microsoft has recently rolled out the Windows 10 Mobile update for several of their Lumia devices, and this Windows 10 Mobile Redstone update is expected to cheer things up for the users.

The list of the Lumia handsets which will get a Windows 10 Mobile upgrade include the Lumia 1520, Lumia 930, Lumia 830, Lumia 730, Lumia 735, Lumia 640, Lumia 640XL, Lumia 635 1GB, Lumia 636 1GB, Lumia 638 1GB, Lumia 540, Lumia 535, Lumia 532, Lumia 435, and the Lumia 430. There is no workaround for this issue on Mobile.

Oregon knocks defending champion Duke out of NCAA tournamentIn the final seconds of Oregon's win over Duke , Dillon Brooks hit a meaningless three-pointer to cap Oregon's win at 82-68. The cameras caught a postgame exchange between Krzyzewski, who appeared to say something to Brooks about the celebration.
