You'll be able to view and respond to notifications from your phone from Windows... and that's true whether you're using a Windows Phone or an Android one.

Mr Nadella showcased improvements to Cortana and announced previews of new cloud services and toolkits designed to create intelligent bots.

In the Build 2016 session, Microsoft disclosed details on how messages, missed calls and other kinds of notification from the user's Android phone will soon be displayed by a Windows 10 PC. Microsoft has described the new feature as; "a new way to bring expertise, products, services and entertainment into your daily messaging on Skype". "The company demonstrated how artificial intelligence applications built with Microsoft technology can be useful in the real world", reported NBC News. The company reportedly said that the feature is coming in a "future version of Windows", and it's not clear whether or not the current Cortana app supports it.

There are those that would say Microsoft should have a revamped file explorer with tabs and a decent mail and calendar client, rather than one that is shipped with Windows 10. The new update allows users to use the same security of Windows Hello with Windows apps and Microsoft Edge. "Cortana works great with the apps in this collection", the description of this new app section reads. Windows 10 now has support for native Bash with access to the Windows file system and the universe of open source command line tools.

All Xbox One consoles can now be turned into dev kits, Microsoft announced at Build 2016 yesterday. The company has also introduced a developer program for those who want to build their own Skype Bots, which allow you to go one-on-one with your favorite characters and customize them.

Spencer also explained how Windows32 apps could be converted to Universal Windows Apps, showing a demo of Age of Empires 2 and The Witcher 3.

- The new desktop app converter for Project Centennial was released, which will enable Win32 and.NET developers to bring more than 16 million apps to the Universal Windows Platform.
