Over the past several years, Microsoft has been known to be a company which has been outstanding in their efforts when it comes to the markets of technology. The company has been bringing forward many changes, and after dominating the software and OS technology, they have now moved towards the hardware business too. The company has been coming out with a large number of smartphones, and have also released their latest OS – The Windows 10 Mobile OS.
The Windows 10 Mobile OS is featured on a lot of their newer phones, but has now also been released for their older Nokia Lumia devices which they inherited from the purchase of Nokia Mobiles. The update came out for the Nokia Lumia smartphones in the March of this year, and since then millions of devices have received the latest OS.
The Windows 10 Mobile OS update came out for the users of many older Nokia Lumia phones such as Lumia 1520, 930, 640, 640XL, 730, 735, 830, 532, 535, 540, 635 1GB, 636 1GB, 638 1GB, 430, 435, BLU Win HD w510u, BLU Win HD LTE x150q, and the MCJ Madosma Q501 devices.
There has been quite a controversy over this selective release as the users of other popular devices such as the Lumia 520, Lumia 1020 and Lumia 1320 are upset that their devices have not received this update. Microsoft has explained why this selective release was made in their blog, saying:
"This list includes a limited set of Windows Phone 8.1 devices and does not include some devices that are currently running Windows 10 Mobile in the Windows 10 Mobile Insider program. As Windows 10 delivers significant new innovations, many older devices are not able to successfully upgrade without an impact on the customer experience. Our goal is to only offer the Windows 10 upgrade to devices that we are confident can continue to deliver a good customer experience," the company said.
