Microsoft to Sell Another Android Phone as No New Windows Phones Are Planned

Microsoft took everyone by surprise when it decided to sell the Samsung Galaxy S8 in its own stores, but with Windows 10 Mobile no longer having a place in its mobile vision, the company is continuously looking to expand the lineup of rival phones available at its locations.

The recently-announced Razer Phone will be up for grabs from the Microsoft Store as well, becoming the second Android smartphone that's being sold by the software giant after the Galaxy S8.

While Microsoft itself hasn't made any announcement in this regard, Razer's official press release points to several retailers and locations where its phone will be available, including "selected Microsoft Store locations in the USA." No other specifics were provided, but expect more details to be shared soon, as the device is projected to go on sale on November 17.

Without a doubt, it was a little surprising to see the maker of Windows phones sell Android devices in its own stores, but now that the company acknowledged the demise of its mobile platform, with no new features and hardware on the radar, it makes a bit more sense for the firm to try expand in the mobile business in any way it can.

Razer Phone tech specs

The Razer Phone is a device that's optimized for gamers, so it comes with hardware that's specifically optimized for gaming, including a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor paired with 8GB RAM and 64GB storage with microSD card support.

The device features a 5.72-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1440x2560 pixels, 120 Hz refresh, Wide Color Gamut, and Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

Other features include a 12-megapixel camera with dual-tone and dual-LED flash, 8-megapixel front-facing camera, stereo speakers, dual amplifiers, a 4,000 mAh battery with Quick Charge 4+, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2 and Android 7.1.1.

Pricing for the Razer Phone will be $699.99 in the United States and €749.99 in European markets.
