LG To Launch A Windows Phone Smartphone Soon

An LG handset press image has been spotted with Windows Phone OS onboard. The top bezel carries the Verizon Wireless that indicates that the South Korean tech company is aiming to release a new LG handset in the U.S. markets.

According to Neowin, the image of the unknown LG shows that it features virtual Windows Phone buttons that are usually seen on low-end devices. However, Neowin further claims that the HTC One M8 that features the Windows Phone 8.1 OS also has virtual buttons like the ones seen on the mysterious LG handset.

Through the image it can be known that the device is not running on the Windows 10 Mobile OS that is expected for a release later this year. It seems to running on Windows Phone 8.1. It may receive the Windows 10 update in the near future.

The specifications of the device are not known but it is featuring a front-facing camera and it comes with support for LTE connectivity. On the basis of the size of the tiles shown on the screen of the LG model, it seems that the device is featuring a 4.5-inch or 5-inch display.

It is quite evident that the LG smartphone that has been spotted is not a flagship device by any means. The filename of the iamge carries a moniker of Lancet. It is not sure whether Lancet is the codename or real name of the device.

According to Phone Arena, it could be the LG D635 handset powered with Windows Phone 8.10OS that was seen in the previous year. It features a 5-inch screen supporting HD resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels.

Microsoft as well as many lesser known companies has released many budget Windows Phone in the recent past. It seems that LG too will join the bandwagon by launching a low-end or midrange Windows Phone OS handset in the following months. As of this writing, LG has not confirmed anything about launching a Windows Phone powered LG handset.
