I strongly recommend not installing Windows 10 Mobile on the Lumia Icon. With the Windows 10 Mobile OS then coming out, things were starting to get even more interesting, as Microsoft took a major leap forward towards the future of the world of technology.
As I first reported on Twitter, hell has frozen over: Verizon is delivering the shipping (non-Insider) version of Windows 10 Mobile to its two-year-old orphan, the Lumia Icon.
Effective June 23, 2016, Microsoft and AT&T released a new Windows 10 update for the Nokia Lumia 1520. We've been checking for the update all day, and it hasn't come through yet - but as you can see for yourself on Verizon's Software Updates site, it is due for release imminently. "This software update has been tested to help optimize device performance, resolve known issues and apply the latest security patches". The update will be available for download via Firmware Over The Air (FOTA).
The Windows 10 Mobile OS update came out for the users of many older Nokia Lumia phones such as Lumia 1520, 930, 640, 640XL, 730, 735, 830, 532, 535, 540, 635 1GB, 636 1GB, 638 1GB, 430, 435, BLU Win HD w510u, BLU Win HD LTE x150q, and the MCJ Madosma Q501 devices.
The first preview build of Windows 10 Mobile was rolled out for Lumia Icons on Verizon on May 7, so after more than one month of testing, the final update can finally go live for this model.
There was pretty much no reason for not releasing Windows 10 Mobile to the Lumia Icon since it's almost identical to the Lumia 930, one of the devices that received both the upgrade to the stable version and preview builds.
