Microsoft is reportedly working on two Lumia flagships, with the release date set for sometime later this year. The two smartphones, code-named Talkman and Cityman, will reportedly include high-end specifications and run on the upcoming Windows 10 for Mobile operating system.
In the meantime, new reports state that Talkman (aka Lumia 940) and Cityman (aka Lumia 940 XL) will sport several advanced features. According to reports cited by Phone Arena, via WinFuture and DrWindows, the relatively smaller Talkman and larger Cityman will feature aluminum frames, with the back of the handsets made of the ubiquitous polycarbonate (plastic) material. In addition, the handsets will reportedly emulate the design of the well-received Microsoft Lumia 830 smartphone.
The 940 and 940 XL will be the first high-end smartphones running on Windows 10 to come with a USB Type-C connector. As per reports, the new USB format is mandatory in these handsets because of the Continuum feature that is part of Windows 10 for Mobile. Furthermore, the upcoming devices will also flaunt wireless charging capabilities, in addition to an iris scanner. (The iris scanner is mandated by Windows Hello, the new enterprise-grade biometric security aspect believed to be part of Windows 10, notes Phone Arena.)
As for configurations, the Talkman/940 will reportedly feature a 5.2-inch display and 1,440 x 2,560 pixels (QHD) screen resolution. Under the hood, the handset will be powered by a hexa-core processor with a Qualcomm chipset and will be backed by 3 GB of RAM. Speaking of memory specification, the smartphone will come equipped with 32 GB of built-in storage space and microSD card support for further expansion. Other Lumia Talkman features include a killer 20 MP main camera, a generous 5 MP front-facing snapper and a 3,000 mAh battery unit.
The Cityman/940 XL, on the other hand, will reportedly sport a 5.7-inch display and QHD resolution. Other key Lumia Cityman specifications include an octa-core processor, 32 GB of expandable storage, 20 MP main camera, 5 MP selfie camera and a 3,300 mAh battery unit.
Readers should note that Microsoft has not yet confirmed the Talkman and Cityman specifications and features.
