iPhone 6S vs. Microsoft Lumia 950 – Two Flagships Yet To Be Launched

This fall will rain with new smartphones, and Apple and Microsoft are two of the companies that had one year at their disposal in order to create successors for their famous flagships. Later this month, during an event, Apple will unveil the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, hoping to sell at least 100 million units in the first two quarters of 2016. Microsoft has a new Lumia device to offer and it will come installed with Windows 10. Here's a comparison between the iPhone 6S and the Lumia 950.

Displays

Apple will keep the design, screen size and resolution from the previous iPhone 6, meaning that the successor will probably have similar dimensions and a 4.7-inch screen supporting 750 x 1334 pixels. However, the display will feature the Force Touch technology which will detect the force of a tap and it will respond differently.

The Lumia 950 will have an AMOLED screen sized at 5.2-inch, which will support 1440 x 2560. On GSMArena, the phone was listed as Lumia 940.

Hardware

The new iPhone will come with a new A9 chipset which will be backed by 2GB of RAM. However, even if the phone would still have 1GB of RAM, the improved processor would offer an impressive performance and would be more powerful compared to other smartphones. Plus, Apple will launch iOS 9, which will make some waves with its new features. The internal memory will be unchanged: 16, 64 and 128GB, unexpandable.

The Lumia 950 is expected to run on the Qualcomm MSM8992 Snapdragon 808 hexa core processor, which will pair with Adreno 418 graphics and 3GB of RAM. It's rumored to have unexpandable memory and its capacity will be 32GB. The phone will come installed with Windows 10 Mobile and the users will enjoy the new Microsoft Edge browser with Cortana integration.

Cameras

The Lumia 950 will sport a 20MP PureView rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics, OIS, dual-LED flash, autofocus, 1/2.5" sensor size, 1.12 µm pixel size etc. and a 5MP front camera.

The resolution will be increased from 8MP to 12MP and the iPhone 6S will still have one of the best cameras, not only because of the additional mega pixels, but because of the improved camera software. The rumors say that the front camera will be also upgraded and will support 5MP.

Batteries & Prices

Apparently, the iPhone 6S will incorporate a 1715mAh battery which won't have a longer life compared to the previous model. As for the price, the model with the lowest internal memory will cost 650 dollars, as usual. The Lumia 950 will be powered by a 3000mAh battery and will cost between 500 and 600 dollars.
