While Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has achieved greatness when it comes to the PC industry, success in the smartphone market continues to evade the company. The prevailing duopoly by Apple Inc. and Google Inc. hasn't discouraged Microsoft, however. The tech giant is now working toward launching its new Windows 10 Mobile platform next month, alongside its much-rumored Lumia smartphones.
A report from a French Windows Phone tech blog SmartphoneFrance.info indicates that the upcoming Lumia 950XL will be supporting a price tag only slightly lower than Apple's iPhone 6s and 6s Plus; however, Microsoft aims to sweeten the deal by bundling 200 Euro worth of accessories with the purchase.
One should note that the iPhone is the priciest in France and the cheapest back in the US, which indicates that the Lumia 950XL won't necessarily be as pricey as the blog site claims. Prices are likely to fluctuate in various markets around the world.
Some of the accessories that Microsoft aims to bundle with the phablet, may include the new Continuum dock, a Bluetooth speaker, and a NFC Treasure Tag which will notify users whenever a tagged item is moved.
Coming to the leaked specs; the phablet in question is believed to feature a 5.7-inch OLED display with an impressive resolution of 1440 by 2560 pixels. The Lumia 950XL will be powered by the Snapdragon 810 processor, and is said to have 3GB RAM. The device, like all previous Lumia flagships, will support a high-end camera. A 20MP PureView camera on the back, complimented by a 5MP front shooter, is said to be on the cards. The device will incorporate 32GB of internal storage, with the option to expand courtesy of a Micro SD card slot and a massive 3,300mAh battery unit.
The Lumia 950XL will come with the new Windows 10 Mobile out of the box, and will be accompanied by its smaller cousin, the Lumia 950, at the upcoming October 6 event. Microsoft is believed to unveil a host of Windows 10 devices at the event, scheduled to take place in New York.
