Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has recently released its latest batch of devices, that include the new Band, Surface Pro 4 and the Surface Book. There are also the Lumia 950 and the Lumia 950 XL, with the Cortana, 20MP lens and Windows 10 phone OS. The question here, however, is how the Lumia 950 XL fares in comparison to the Samsung Electronic's (OTCMKTS:SSNLF) Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. S6 Edge Plus is a sophisticated, slick flagship which is a major player in the smartphone market, arguably second only to Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 6S Plus.
Both Lumia 950 XL and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus come with a 5.7inch display with 2560 x 1440p resolution. Lumia 950 XL has a QHD AMOLED display and S6 Edge Plus has Super AMOLED; both are vibrant displays that make it difficult to look away. Both Samsung and Microsoft have worked hard to produce displays they can be proud of. With these two flagship releases, the battle to lead the market has intensified, with any unique-selling-point difficult to keep under wraps, or prevent someone else to get "inspired" with the design or technology.
RAM numbers for the Lumia 950 XL are not known so far, but reports suggest that it will have a 4GB RAM and the Snapdragon 810 processor with 2.0GHz speed. Galaxy S6 Edge Plus comes with the Exynos 7420 Octa-core chipset at 2.1 GHz, with 4GB RAM, which can support multitasking and high-end games without too many problems. Both devices are pretty close in terms of power and performance, and that is not where this ends. Lumia 950 XL and S6 Edge Plus, both offer 32GB internal memory, although S6 Edge Plus also offers a 64GB variant. Both these phablets sport an external microSD slot that can support upto 2TB of storage space. So there is plenty of space for your games, films, TV shows and all at the same time.
Lumia 950 XL and S6 Edge Plus both have similar snappers as well, although Lumia 950 XL's 20MP just about outdoes the S6 Edge Plus's 16MP rear lens. Both devices are equipped with 5MP front lens, with Optical Image Stabilisation, auto-focus and other similar high-end features that need no introduction. With the battery packs measured at 3300mAh for Lumia 950 XL and 3400mAh for S6 Edge Plus, the two devices are more than decent when it comes to camera and battery specs. What's different between the two phablets, is that the battery on the Lumia 950 XL is removable.
With specs that could not be more similar, the Lumia 950 XL and S6 Edge Plus are bound to keep the phablet enthusiasts hooked for a while. Both Samsung and Microsoft have given their 100% to make sure these two devices are up for the phablet battle.
