Windows 10 Mobile OTA update finally arrives: Microsoft Lumia handsets with 8.1 OS versions to get it
When the elusive Windows 10 Mobile update will be launched by Microsoft? No one is sure about the exact date of the arrival of the much awaited software update for the Lumia devices as speculations seem to have become a bit boring to many people.
For at least three months, Lumia handsets users have been awaiting the launch of the latest Windows 10 Mobile without any luck. The most disturbing aspect of the wait has been the complete silence of the Redmond based software giant on the issue.
Nonetheless there are signs that the despair is set to change into hope as the tech giant will unleash the new OS update today. A report by the VentureBeat said yesterday that the update is scheduled to release nearly four months after the operating system first shipped on the Lumia 950 smartphone. If the release indeed happens, it will end months of speculation and bring the universal app platform of the Redmond-based firm to a big new audience.
Till now the new operating system has come only with newly launched high end Lumia devices. This includes the handsets like the Lumia 950 and Japan-only NuAns Neo. Today's release is set to bring the platform to a large group of users who have not upgraded to a new phone. According to February figures from NetMarketShare, the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system runs on jjust 1.68 percent of global smartphones, which is much more than Windows 10 Mobile, which accounts for just 0.36 percent of devices in use.
