Both the AT&T version of the Lumia 640 and the Verizon version of the Lumia 735 are now being updated to Windows 10 Mobile. So the new Windows 10 Mobile-powered Elite X3 smartphone from HP has come under the spotlight. However, in order to show off the device's skills, HP has released a video that shows the collaboration between Microsoft and HP to create a spectacular device as a desktop replacement for the future.
Windows chief Terry Myerson was the first to praise the HP Elite X3 and in new videos posted online, other executives are doing the same thing in an attempt to show how powerful this device is going to be. Many devices that by specifications alone are compatible with Windows 10 Mobile were left off.
Key accessories leverage Microsoft's Continuum to make this mobile device a useful desk docked productivity device. The extender (pictured below) could be described as a dumb 12.5-inch laptop which has been envisaged as a good portable productivity option for some users.
New at Computex it appears that HP has implemented biometric security via a fingerprint reader on the back of the phone under the camera unit (see above).
As for the Elite x3's availability, HP has already said that it will be available this summer, although we're yet to hear an exact date or month. On June 1, Gabe Aul, the former Windows Insider lead, announced he was handing over the reins of system software testing program to Sarkar, a software engineer who joined Microsoft during Windows Vista's development and recently served as the Windows Driver Signing portal for Windows 10 product lead.
