The Nokia Lumia Icon was introduced in 2014 which means as far as smartphones are concerned, it is considered by many to be "old", which also means that its status as to whether or not it is eligible for upgrades remains to be seen. It's definitely good to see the Lumia Icon running the latest and greatest from Microsoft, since it's one of the few Windows Phones ever sold by a major United States carrier.
"Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce a software update for your device", the wireless carrier announced.
I strongly recommend not installing Windows 10 Mobile on the Lumia Icon. "Windows 10 Mobile is full of new features and improvements".
The update, which was originally promised in the December of 2015, has come out in the March of 2016, and following that, millions of devices have been updated to the latest version of the Windows 10 Mobile OS. The company now owns all the older Nokia Lumia devices, and keeping in mind the interests of their older users, the company has now released the Windows 10 Mobile OS update for most of the older Nokia Lumia devices which run the Windows Phone OS.
The first preview build of Windows 10 Mobile was rolled out for Lumia Icons on Verizon on May 7, so after more than one month of testing, the final update can finally go live for this model.
"This list includes a limited set of Windows Phone 8.1 devices and does not include some devices that are now running Windows 10 Mobile in the Windows 10 Mobile Insider program". But since the update is going out in stages, it might be a few days before all Lumia Icon units receive it.
