Microsoft’s Removal Of Lumia Signals Impending Launch Of Surface Phones

#SurfacePhone #Lumia – Microsoft's Removal Of Lumia Signals Impending Launch Of Surface Phones : Now that Microsoft has stopped selling Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows Mobile 10 in its US store, it has become pretty obvious that the company is pulling the plug on the Lumia brand. Prior to this, Redmond's UK-based stores also ran out of Windows 10 mobile stock.

Now that speculations are rife regarding the eventual demise of Lumia family, the most important question everyone asking is whether or not Microsoft will try to revive its fast-shrinking smartphone business by launching a new lineup.

For the uninitiated, the following is the list of Lumia handsets that has been removed from Microsoft's US stores:

  • Acer Liquid Jade Primo Bundle – Unlocked
  • AT&T – Microsoft Lumia 640 XL
  • AT&T – Microsoft Lumia 950
  • Microsoft Lumia 550 – Unlocked
  • Microsoft Lumia 650 Dual SIM – Unlocked
  • Microsoft Lumia 950 – Unlocked
  • Microsoft Lumia 950 XL – Unlocked
  • Verizon – Microsoft Lumia 735
  • Microsoft has not yet made any statement clarifying when and if it is going to re-stock the aforementioned units. However, judging by what rumor mills have been long churning out, it is likely that the company is more interested in introducing its Surface Phone.

While the Windows maker recently confirmed that it will be partaking in the Mobile World Congress 2017, odds are high the first Surface Phone will be marking its debut later in the year.

Microsoft already made it clear that it was bringing native desktop app compatibility to ARM processors sometime in 2017. A demo of the same was presented using a Snapdragon 820 that seamlessly ran the desktop variant of Photoshop. (Although, the minimum hardware for running desktop apps is expected to be fixed at Snapdragon 835).

Nonetheless, coming back to the main topic, here's a list of Lumia devices that you can still buy in the US, albeit with limited availability:

  • Acer Liquid M330 – $79.99 (usually $99)
  • BLU Win HD LTE $149
