As if, anyone expected anything different! Microsoft really seems to have taken the proverbial foot off the pedal when it comes to Windows phones lately, and the upcoming Creators Update is no different. In the process, very carefully wording the announcement.According to the software titan, the availability of the update was to wary by manufacturer, model, country or region, mobile operator or service provider, specific installed software, hardware limitations and other factors such as feedback from customers — pretty much all the dynamics were listed.Naturally, that raised a few eyebrows. And now we have the trusted old hand of Mary Jo Foley to guide us through the fact that only a subset of the current devices will be eligible to upgrade to the Creators Update.Citing unnamed multiple sources, she reveals that only these handsets will receive the update:Alcatel IDOL 4SAlcatel OneTouch Fierce XLHP Elite x3Lenovo Softbank 503LVMCJ Madosma Q601Microsoft Lumia 550Microsoft Lumia 640/64 0XLMicrosoft Lumia 650Microsoft Lumia 950/950 XLTrinity NuAns NeoVAIO Phone Biz (VPB051)That's a pretty short list! And on top of that, there are some notable makes and models missing, including the likes of the Lumia 730 and 735, as well as the 830, and even the perfectly fine previous flagship in the form of the fairly popular Lumia 930.Or even the previous generation Lumia 1520, a capable enough phone that could have run the Creators Update without any major performance issues.Nevertheless, even though this is not the official list, a Microsoft spokesperson when asked to comment did say that as has been the case with previous updates to the OS, a device may have incompatible hardware, lack current drivers, or may be outside of the support period of the OEM.These devices will, according to Redmond, continue to receive security and servicing fixes. But while this is not a denial or a confirmation that only a few Windows powered phones will be eligible for the Windows 10 Mobile Crea tors Update, it does look like this could really be the end of Microsoft's mobile platform for the consumer market.Making Creators Update exclusive to only a few devices that received the Anniversary Update makes it the second time Microsoft has left behind a major part of its phone lineup.Hopefully, we get the official details from Microsoft soon enough.Well before the April 25 rollout. How do you see all this?
