As per the recent news around the block, the two new flagships could see the light of the day later this year, around November perhaps and the prices would be almost the same as Galaxy S6 and the LG G4.
Microsoft has to be pretty confident about what it is offering to the market because it has not shied away from putting a big price tag on both the devices.
We only have to see if the device has what it takes to make people jump ship and decide not to choose the Galaxy S6 and the LG G4 and use the Lumia 940 duo.
Let us take a look at what is special about these two devices.
To start with, both the Lumia 940 and the Lumia 940 XL would stick to the usage of Polycarbonate for its chassis, something that Samsung and LG have long abandoned.
The devices are haven for people who love colorful mobile phones and the range of colors offered would be rather good. There is nothing much special about the design though.
The size of the screen is a 5.2 inch one for Lumia 940 and the Lumia 940 XL would have a 5.7 inches screen.
Both the S6 and the G4 outwit this pair of devices as the S6 offers better resolution while the G4 provides a good size as compared to Lumia 940 XL.
Talking about the OS used, will Windows 10 be used on the Lumia 940 and 940 XL? Chances are bright that it would.
What we do not know is whether or not the OS would be faster than the Android and iOS operating systems. Also, its hardware is not that great to be able to compete with the Galaxy S6.
It may offer some competition to the LG G4 though, but with S6, there is no chance at all, because the S6 is equipped with an Exynos 7420 chipset while the 940 would stick to a Snapdragon 808 processor.
The 940 XL would feature the Snapdragon 810, which is similar to what LG G4 has. Internal memory for these devices would be 32 GB further expandable externally, which is a good haul for all users.
If the Lumia 940 and 940 XL have lost out in the hardware department, Microsoft has made sure that it regains ground in the camera department.
The Pureview technology goes a long way in making up for all the features that are not available in comparison withS6 and G4.
The rear camera is 20MP and the front camera is 5MP. It is unclear whether rumors of there being an LED flash on the front should believed or not – if this is true then selfies would be a million times better than S6 and LG G4.
There is no clarity on the exact prices of the Lumia 940 and 940 XL. It should be around the same price as S6 and G4, that is between $650 and $700.
