Dubbed Hub Keyboard, the free app boasts a slick, simple design and some powerful in-built attachment and search buttons.
For example, you can quickly route through your OneDrive files and send a link to a photo or document stored in the cloud – with a few taps on the Hub Keyboard.
You can also copy and paste information about a contact by linking to your address book from inside the clever keyboard.
Fast document search, as well as the ability to instantly translate parts of messages are also baked into the Hub Keyboard.
Visually, the Microsoft Garage project resembles the Windows Phone Word Flow keyboard.
But unfortunately the final keyboard does not appear to have the fanned-out layout for one-handed use that was rumoured earlier this year.
