While rumors about the Surface Phone started emerging many moons ago, the Redmond based tech giant has refused to speak a single word about it. This is notwithstanding the fact that it inadvertently released many details about it on its website a few weeks ago about specs, it has refused to officially acknowledge the forthcoming device.
As Microsoft's Lumia line of smartphones sink into oblivion and set to control even less than one percent of the market share, Nokia is preparing to come out with its own brand of smartphones. Its mandatory exile from smartphone market is ending and the Finnish tech giant is ready to leap out with its own smartphones, obviously Android devices.
There are enough reasons to believe that as Lumia 950 and 950 XL's flop show, Microsoft has decided to kill off the Lumia series and launch the Surface phone. Sources claim that Panos Panay and his Surface team are working on the Microsoft Surface Phone. This team was also involved in the development of the Surface tablets. Here is everything we know so far about this premium smartphone's design, specs, price and release date.
As far as the look and feel of the device is concerned, there is no clear path visible. Initially, it was reported that Microsoft was working on an all metal Surface Phone. It is expected that the Surface Phone would carry a Kickstand, which is also available on the Surface Tablet.
There are indications that Microsoft's Surface Phone should come in three variants. We can expect a 5.5-inch display for the consumer edition, while the pro models will most likely come with a full 6-inch screen.
