Windows 10 Mobile Gets Much-Awaited Upgrades; Instagram 8.0 Boasts A Cosmetic Overhaul!

What makes Windows Phones comparatively easier to use is the absence of features that cause phones to hang. That explains why features such as Snapchat and Dubsmash are not available on the app store of Windows Phones. Applications such as Instagram as well are still in beta.

In a bid to further enhance performance of Windows Phones, the tech giant is planning to announce Fingerprint Scanning to Windows 10 phones, this summer. The revelation was made to an appointed group of people during the Microsoft Hardware Engineering Community event in March.

The concept is old and was originally introduced three years ago by Apple, however for Windows consumers, this is nothing short of a dream come true. Microsoft intends to match the simplicity of the scanner on the iPhone that allow owners to access their contents by placing their finger on a sensor situated in the home button that unlocks the phone.

Retina scanning is not supported on Windows Phone - this feature come with Window's new flagship models of Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, reports TechNewsToday.

There is no confirmation as far as the number of Windows phone makers that will opt for fingerprint scanners are concerned, however HP's Elite x3 will be first in line to support the new functionality.

Microsoft noted that a few Windows phone OEMs have prior experience in using fingerprint scanners from FPC and Synaptics, however it looks like the other fingerprint scanners might require more effort to integrate into Windows Hello functionality, according to reports on The Verge.

The tech giant is currently testing its Windows 10 Anniversary Update, and the company is slated to launch it for both desktop as well as mobile in late July.

In a related news, Instagram for Windows 10 recently received a new update in the Windows store, pushing it on to version 8.0.0.0 and bringing it on one plane with other platforms.

The new update does not bring a horde of new features aside from a new look and a new logo.
