Samsung advises against installing Windows 10 on its laptops and PCs

There's a two-fold answer.

By now you would have heard that Microsoft has upped the ante on moving Windows 7 and 8 users over to Windows 10. What crosses the line is Microsoft's contravention of established behavior: Closing a dialog box is generally considered to mean "No, I don't want this".

(Reuters/Robert Galbraith)Joe Belfiore, vice president of the operating system group at Microsoft, holds a pair of mobile phones featuring the new Windows 8.1. Meanwhile, Windows 10 Pro will set you back $199 or £130.

Instead of advising users they can cancel, reschedule or update immediately to Windows 10, the dialog box in the screen shot on The Register now advises users they can reschedule or start the update immediately.

Windows 10 may be installed on over 300 million devices, but it appears that Samsung isn't than keen on upgrading. It's gotten to the point where some users are deactivating Windows Update to avoid the upgrade.

PCWorld was unable to reproduce its results with an up-to-date Windows 8.1 machine on Thursday. That's the online equivalent of putting on a coat made out of fireworks and walking into a fire-breathing convention.

The Samsung agent continued, writing, "What we usually recommend is to keep the current Windows version and we'll update you once the Windows 10 have no more issues on any Samsung laptops and computers or even monitors". It'll be right below the scheduled installation time and date. "This is why - regardless of your upgrade path, you can choose to upgrade or decline the offer", Microsoft Executive Vice President Terry Myerson wrote in a blog post.

We'll have to look at the Steam monthly stats going forward to see how long it takes for Windows 10 to take more than 50% of Valve's gaming market.

Microsoft's slow ring members recently received Windows 10 Mobile build 14342.1004. The first is your computer.

The big news is that Cortana can now render his phone notifications on his Windows 10 computer.

Then there's the fact that Microsoft didn't push OEM's to use Windows Phone in lower-end smartphones.

Kelly asked Microsoft for comment, but the company didn't quite explain the reasoning for the X button's revised functionality. I've heard from some of my contacts that a number of Microsoft's own employees are angry about the direction Microsoft is taking on the auto-update front with Windows 10 and are complaining to Windows and other senior managers about the company's tactics.

Beyond that, it's a good OS.

But, wait...there's probably more... But that didn't seem to do much for making Windows Phone a bit more popular.
